Take part in the nation’s largest community improvement project starting March 1 through May 31, 2010. Last year 3 million volunteers participated nation wide including an award winning year for Georgia reaching 100% participation from each of our 159 Counties!
The Great American Cleanup is an annual event started in 1999 by Keep America Beautiful. Each year Georgians come out in growing numbers to improve their communities by picking up litter in parks and roadways, planting trees and flowers to beautify public spaces, painting over graffiti, repairing local homes and businesses, and holding recycling drives and workshops on environmental education.
In 2009 Georgia had record breaking participation from 737 communities across the state calling on 80,494 volunteers! Based on national independent sector standards, our volunteers logging a total of 284,903 hours of service translates to $5.8 million in labor for our communities.
Actively instill a sense of pride in your beautiful community and join us in 2010 for Georgia’s Great American Cleanup! Green Starts Here!
