Organizing a Christmas Tree Collection Program

Every community in Georgia is encouraged to participate in the program by collecting Christmas trees, usually on the first Saturday after January 1st (you may extend that time period and collect trees before and/or after if you wish). In order to participate, you must have a drop off site open to the public between 9am and 4pm on January 5th. You are responsible for arranging for a Chipper or other appropriate reuse method. You must also submit a short Report Form in a timely manner after your event.

The program receives extensive media coverage and Keep Georgia Beautiful will mail you a press kit containing news releases, public service announcements, a fact sheet, and artwork. Communities also receive promotional materials such as sponsor signs, flyers, and tree hanger slicks for copying. Stickers and buttons are available at a nominal charge. Sponsors also purchase seedlings, which are distributed to your community. The official "Chipper" mascot costume is available for you to promote your event.
